  • Does the mood of the piece not seem to be enhanced by it? In Animaniacs, for instance, talking animals are a common occurrence, but if you see one in Bones, you’re definitely imagining things.

5 Take into consideration where you currently are. When we dream, the environment around us often does not make any sense.

  • Can you recall how you made your way there? If you don’t and you don’t have any mental health issues, then it’s likely that you’re just dreaming. Even if you know how you got to that specific location, it’s possible that you’re dreaming if you don’t remember getting ready to fly there or if you don’t remember waking up in the morning. Even if you know how you got there, it’s still possible that you’re dreaming. Can you recall how you got into this predicament, even if you’re completely lost?
  • Is it a combination of several different places? You are most likely imagining things if, for instance, you can characterize it as “kind of like New York but kind of like Chicago.”
  • Are you now at a location that does not actually exist? (similar to Hogwarts or the land of Narnia).
  • Does the location include items that are extremely unlikely or even impossible to find? (for instance, if the grass is a lavender color or anything like that.)
  • Is it feasible to go to locations that would be inaccessible to you in the actual world from where you now are? (Take, for instance, a structure in Australia that may be found to have a door that goes to London.)
  • Are you working in a location that is not your normal place of employment, or are you attending school or university despite the fact that it is a vacation, you have graduated, or you no longer attend that specific school or university? And if you are attending some sort of educational institution, such as a school or another center for learning, are they teaching you some ludicrous skill, such as how to levitate?
