Where is the Woodward Dream Cruise 2022?
- The Woodward Dream Cruise is a one-day automobile event that is said to be the largest of its kind in the world. It is held in the suburbs of Detroit.
- The Woodward Dream Cruise has been held annually on the third Saturday of August in Michigan since since it began in 1995.
- The event, which covers a large geographical area and takes place in a number of different localities, is free of charge for spectators as well as participants.
On the third Saturday of every August, Detroit’s famed Woodward Avenue is transformed from a typical road full of commuters into a sea of automobiles that are bordered by people. This event is known as the Woodward Avenue Block Party. The legendary Dream Cruise takes over the suburbs of Detroit and disperses vintage and enthusiast automobiles throughout parking lots, side streets, and of course the highway that runs to the northwest of the central business district of Detroit.
There is no invitation procedure, there is no judging, and you do not need a very rare or semi-priceless automobile to be a full participant in this cruise, unlike the opulent Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance that frequently overlaps with Michigan’s most beloved cruise: It is for everybody who has a passion for automobiles.
It is interesting to see one of the most exclusive automotive events in the world sharing a weekend with one of the most inclusive events 2500 miles away from each other. Pebble Beach is without a doubt a fantastic event, but it is also interesting to see the juxtaposition of one of the most exclusive automotive events in the world sharing a weekend with one of the most inclusive events.
Rolling around the famous Woodward Avenue in Michigan during the third weekend in August and checking out the Dream Cruise is something you should do if you ever find yourself in the state of Michigan during that time or in the days leading up to it. However, you shouldn’t anticipate going too quickly, especially on Dream Cruise Saturday.
They don’t understand why more than a million people would come to town to look at approximately 40,000 historic vehicles, so many of the residents choose to leave town rather than deal with the gridlock. Have a favorite Dream Cruise moment? Tell us more down below.

The Woodward Dream Cruise served as the inspiration for the unofficial yearly event known as Cruisin’ Downriver, which travels through many cities located downriver from Detroit. Crowds of onlookers line Fort Street in order to see people driving antique, classic, tricked-out, or otherwise noteworthy vehicles as they travel past the main road of Fort Street, which is M-85.
- The Downriver Cruise is an annual event that is held on the final Saturday of June and receives a lot of publicity thanks to the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
- State Representative Edward Clemente (D-Lincoln Park), who was the chamber president at the time, Craig Sochocki, who served as the former mayor of Lincoln Park, Donald W.
Thurlow, who served as the former publisher of the News-Herald, and Evelyn Cairns, who served as the former lifestyle editor for the News-Herald, were the driving forces behind the event. After hearing from her son Glen that the Woodward Dream Cruise was too far for him to travel in his Ford Model A, Cairns came up with the idea for the first Cruisin’ Downriver event in the year 2000.
In the end, the inaugural Downriver Cruise took place that year, and it is believed that around 200,000 people participated. In addition to traveling through Southgate and Wyandotte, the cruise can be found between Sibley Road in Riverview and Outer Drive in Lincoln Park. Each event conducted since 2017 has been unofficial as a consequence of increased expenditures paid and a lack of earnings by each of the municipalities along the cruise route.
The event was an official event for the most of its existence, however each event held since 2017 has been an unofficial event. A lengthy partial shutdown of Interstate 75 in the Downriver region between the years 2017 and 2018 led to increased traffic along Fort Street.
- This was another aspect that contributed to the events that took place in those years.
- Fort Street runs parallel to Interstate 75 in the Downriver area.
- In spite of the widespread COVID-19 epidemic, the event will continue to take place despite the fact that Interstate 75 had already been fully restored by the time of the 2019 edition.
Despite this fact, the event will continue to be held in its unofficial capacity.
